June 1, 2009 | SGI Announces Day One Support of New Six-Core AMD Opteron™ Processors
SGI® (NASDAQ: SGI) announced today the immediate availability of servers based on the new Six-Core AMD Opteron™ processors (codenamed "Istanbul"). SGI will offer a wide selection of server models that will use the new Six-Core AMD Opteron processors to help increase energy efficiency, and ensure superior value and optimal performance for demanding, real-world server and workstation application workloads.
"These new Six-Core AMD Opteron processors continue AMD’s leadership in providing the hardware innovations that tackle demanding workloads with superior speed and efficiency,” said Giovanni Coglitore, senior vice president and chief products officer at SGI. "AMD’s energy-saving technologies can greatly benefit the price-performance-per-watt in an existing data center footprint and, together with SGI’s energy-saving server designs, help to greatly reduce overall power consumption."
SGI servers with Six-Core AMD Opteron processors address core scale-out needs in Internet and high performance computing markets such as federal government, digital media, financial services, and oil and gas exploration. A wide variety of models supporting the new processors are available, spanning SGI’s server and storage product lines. Rack- and data center-level solutions are also available, ranging from ICE Cube™ modular data centers, CloudRack™ C2 enclosures to standard rack-mount products.

May 18, 2009 | Rackable Systems Completes Name Change
Rackable Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RACK) announced today the completion of its legal name change to "Silicon Graphics International Corp." The company also announced today that it will change its NASDAQ stock ticker symbol from "RACK" to "SGI." The stock ticker change has gone into effect for the trading community on Monday, May 18, 2009.
SGI® also announced that ISS Governance Services of the Risk Management Group has released its recommendation for company shareholders to vote "FOR" all incumbent directors and proposals in the company's upcoming annual meeting, which will take place on May 29, 2009 at the company's corporate headquarters in Fremont, California.
"It is indeed gratifying to receive the support of our customers and shareholders at this pivotal time," said Ron Verdoorn, chairman of SGI.

Rackable Systems is pleased to announce that we have successfully closed our previously announced Asset Purchase Agreement with Silicon Graphics, Inc. With this important milestone complete, I want to personally share with you some of the key elements of our forward-looking vision.
First, our corporate name will be Silicon Graphics International, but from a marketing and branding perspective, we will be referred to as SGI®. The Rackable name will become the brand for the SGI x86 cluster compute products. Rackable will join our other industry-recognized brands – such as ICE Cube, Altix, InfiniteStorage, CloudRack, MicroSlice, Origin, and VUE – to comprise the new SGI.
